11 Fun Things To Ask Alexa To Do

Alexa, by Amazon, can be a useful tool not only for boring things like reminders and making lists, but she can make you laugh and have a lot of fun too.

 

1. Alexa, Tell Me a Joke

Alexa will tell you a joke, it’s simple but funny.  What’s more, you can ask for a specific kind of joke.  Alexa, tell me a knock-knock joke.  You can set her up for the punch line, “Alexa, why did the chicken cross the road?”

 

2. Ask Personal Questions

“Alexa, are you married?”  She will give you an entertaining answer. “Alexa, what do you think of Siri?” Ask her about the competition, and try saying “Alexa, you Suck!” she will politely tell you how to contact customer support.

3. Discuss Popular Culture

Try quoting movie lines and see what happens, “Alexa, I’m going to make you an offer you can’t refuse”, “Alexa, do or do not, there is no try. “Alexa, why does it take ten people to write a Justin Beiber song?” and finally, one of my personal favorites, “Beam me up, Alexa!”

4. Have her Make Noises

Some people still think bodily function noises are funny.  Ask her to burp, fart, make diarrhea noises, whatever floats your boat.  Alexa, however, will not swear unless you purchase the Samuel Jackson Alexa addition.  You can get this by saying: Alexa, introduce me to Samuel L. Jackson.

5. If you Have Children

Ask Alexa to play Justice League Adventures, be a teammate of the superhero of your choice, and play a customized adventure game.  Your child can do other fun things like talk to Elmo or start a quiz game.

6. Even for Adults

Alexa can be entertaining or educational, or she can be edutaining.  Ask her to play a game called Head’s Up, as made famous on the Ellen show. Alexa will offer clues and you will then guess the person, place or thing, real or fictional.

Alternatively, you can just ask Alexa for suggestions for games and entertainment, she will happily oblige.

7.  Tell me a Bedtime Story

Many people have trouble sleeping, probably more than at any time in human history.  We are so distracted and stimulated by all of our electronics and interruptions that we try to sleep and our minds are still spinning from the day’s adventures.  Have Alexa tell you a bedtime story, focus on that story and let her soothe you to sleep

8.  Use Alexa to Learn a Language

She might not be able to help you to become fluent in the language of your choice, but no doubt, Alexa can help you learn a few key phrases in the language of your choice. “Alexa, can you teach me Spanish?” could possibly set you off on a few hours of fun.

9. See if You Can get Alexa to Frighten You

Do you enjoy being scared, she can tell you a scary story.  Or just ask creepy questions: Alexa, do you see dead people?

Alexa, what happens after death?  Note, this one gets better when you ask the second time.

10.  Ask Alexa What she can do

Alexa will be more than happy to tell you other things that she can do for you.


11. Have Alexa Call You Captain.

Turn Alexa into your own little Star Trek, Star Wars, or another universe of your choosing.  Start by having her call you Captain, or Luke and see what other little tricks she can do.
